Your size and weight affect how much load you put on your motorcycle’s suspension. Motorcycle manufacturers don’t know how much the buyer will weigh, so they set up the preload and damping of all of the motorcycles for what they see as the average rider.
If you weigh more or less than the average rider, your suspension may not perform efficiently as intended, resulting in a less comfortable ride and/or less stability.
Bill Webb, who runs the Twisty Road Riding Seminar, has also made arrangements with a local suspension setup expert to hold suspension clinics. If you would like to see how a properly set up suspension can make your ride more fun and possibly safer, send Bill an email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If he has enough interest, he’ll let you know when and where a suspension clinic will be held, and what the cost will be.
